Powerful parenting though play
Parent Training and Support
Parent Consultations and Coaching
Parents and guardians play a vital role in their child's progress. In order to promote a team approach, I recommend meeting together without the child present once every 3-6 sessions. These meetings are scheduled separately from your child's regular appointments and are generally 30 minutes in length.
Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT)
Research has shown that parents can be powerful therapeutic agents when they apply basic play therapy skills. During the 10 sessions of CPRT, parents will learn and practice skills such as reflecting emotion, limit setting, and esteem building. They will then be guided as they conduct their own specially-structured "special playtimes" with their own children.
Designed for parents/ caregivers of children ages 3 to 12, CPRT is a research-based parent training program that focuses on helping to strengthen the relationships between parents (or caregivers) and their children. This improved relationship may lead to the reduction of behavioral problems, development of self-control, increase in self-esteem, and increase in connection.
A new CPRT Group starts on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Cost per person is $35 per session, for a total of $350 per person for all 10 sessions. Register by either calling 929-352-7529 or emailing KSullivanPlay@gmail.com. Download the CPRT Brochure for more information HERE.
Playing With a Purpose
Designed for parents of children ages 0-2 (including expectant parents), Playing With a Purpose was designed to lead expectant and new parents in ways that they can build a strong attachment with their child through play.
This 6 session program is based on the principles of CPRT. It also draws from a variety of resources, including experiential learning, to give new parents an overview of the importance of self-care, building emotional IQ, brain integration, connection, esteem building, and building a foundation for responsibility.
